Field Closing 10/13, Open Board Positions

"Come gather 'round people, Wherever you roam, And admit that the waters, Around you have grown."

Bob Dylan wrote these words during the transformative years of the 60s and times they are a changing at DLL as well.  Fall is officially upon us as we head into the last week of regular season fall ball.  The playoffs will begin next week and then finally we close the fields and complex on Saturday, October 13th.  At the field closing, we are all to work a minimum two hours to receive our $20 deposit we paid at registration.  We had a huge showing at the fall ball opening getting the fields ready and we hope to have another big one to close the fields as many hands do indeed make light work.

2018 has been another successful season and we could not do it without the dedicated and hard working volunteers who make this happen.  DLL has now been in operation for over 50 years and all other leagues look to us as one of the leaders in the region.  This all happens because of a group effort at the top and a community mentality by all.

As we shift gears to begin preparing for 2019, we look to future league leaders to carry the torch.  As with every year, players and parents graduate and new shoes are to be filled.  The class who set the high precedent before are to be replaced with a class who looks to maintain and continue to improve the league.

While the DLL board is complete with dedicated leaders, new faces looking to contribute and take an active part in the betterment of the league are not only welcome, but needed.  There are many roles available including roles that do not even require going to meetings.  For example, you can be part of the group in charge of maintaining the fields or helping with the concessions stand.  There are many wheels turning behind the scenes and help is needed to keep each one going.  A DLL board position is an awesome opportunity to give back to the community while helping DLL maintain its high standards.

Let's finish this fall ball season out strong and have some fun.
